Corolla Vacation Home Rentals
Corolla is a vacation rental destination. Most vacationers at Corolla rent a private home for their vacation accommodations. As there are more than 5,000 rental homes on the Currituck Outer Banks, finding the perfect Corolla vacation rental home is never the problem; choosing between all the ones that strike your fancy is.
Most of Corolla’s visitors — up to 50,000 people a week in the summer — rent a home. Almost all the homes are relatively new and offer a wide range of amenities. The majority of the Corolla’s vacation rental homes are larger than 5,000 square feet and offer pools and hot tubs; some even have home gyms and fitness centers. Since such large homes are readily available, many of them are rented for weddings (usually requiring a special contract), family reunions, corporate retreats or other gatherings. The trend in Corolla vacationing, indeed in Outer Banks vacationing overall, is for several families to rent a large home together, splitting the cost of the house and all staying under one roof. Rental fees depend primarily upon proximity to the water and size of the home. For instance, a four- or five-bedroom home, mid-island, might run anywhere from $1,500 to $3,000 a week, while an eight-bedroom, oceanfront home could cost $10,000 a week or more. A four-bedroom soundfront home would probably be around $2,500 to $4,000 a week. Every rental company has extensive rental brochures and websites that highlight each property with all its amenities and price ranges. Summer rates are obviously the most expensive, while fall and spring are less expensive and winter is the least expensive of all. Most homes do not allow pets, but some do, so call around if it’s important to you.
Many of the rental homes are in amenity-laden subdivisions that have community swimming pools, hot tubs, tennis courts and bike paths for their guests to use. Ask your rental agent about such communities. One of the largest is Corolla Light, which has several pools, a sports and fitness center, fitness classes, activities for kids and families and much more.
