Corolla weddings are extremely popular as far as destination weddings go. The historic village center, the majestic Currituck Lighthouse and the lovely grounds of the Whalehead Club draw couples that want a beach theme but with more of a community feel. Corolla weddings give you the opportunity to keep all your friends and family in a fairly centralized location since this northern part of the Outer Banks offers so many vacation rental homes and high-end dining, shopping and recreational amenities.
One thing couples are doing is renting a big oceanfront house, or several houses in a row, to accommodate all their friends and family. Many couples hold their Corolla wedding ceremony right on the beach then throw a reception back at the house, either indoors or by the pool. Several of the vacation rental companies even have wedding planners on staff to assist couples with this type of event. Note that most rental companies require a special rental contract if you’re planning on holding such an event, so be sure to ask.
Other popular options include getting married on the grounds of the Whalehead Club or the Currituck Beach Lighthouse. Both of these sites rent out their incredibly inviting lawns for wedding ceremonies and receptions. At sunset, both locations are magical. Tents can be set up in case of rain. The Corolla Chapel in old village is a much-coveted Corolla wedding spot, and the Currituck Club has a marvelous space for receptions. If you’re looking for somewhere besides rental homes for your guests to stay, there are two large hotels, the Inn at Corolla Light and the Hampton Inn.
