Corolla Kiteboarding offers an Intro to Kiteboarding lesson that will teach everything you need to know about how the wind works with the kite, the "wind window," determining wind direction, your kiteboarding gear, how it works and what you will need and important emergency and safety measures you will need to know when they put a trainer kite in your hands to fly. Once you complete Intro to Kiteboarding you will move up to the next lesson, which takes place in the shallow, sandy bottom environment of the Currituck Sound, located at historic Whalehead and Currituck Beach Lighthouse. They will outfit you with a harness, a kite and instructions to assist in getting you to a Level 1 PASA Certified Kiteboarder. While you are learning body dragging and kite tricks, a certified instructor follows you on a Jet ski the entire time. Instructors Matt Hewes and Steven Wright have more than 12 years of combined experience with kiteboarding and have a safety-first approach that will have you up and kiteboarding safely in no time. Matt is also a former Corolla Ocean Rescue squad member. Instructor Pat Lewis is one of the pioneer kiteboarders in the Corolla area. His knowledge and passion for the sport make him a great instructor, and he will make sure you are having fun while being safe as you learn.
